Sometimes your photos are so engaging in themselves that you do not want to place anything on your page to distract the viewer from their beauty. When in this situation, you just need a splash of colour, simple patterns and simple embellishments to truly showcase your photos. Scrapbooking ideas like this one use simplicity to draw your attention to the photos and colour to compliment their beauty.

The key is to choose scrapbooking papers that are not too busy and do not feature too many colours. Also, in this layout, the floral paper is complimented with a plain paper in the same hue.

Click Here To View Our Scrapbooking Papers

Materials Used: Papers from the Chatterbox Sun Tangerine Blossoms paper collection, Chatterbox Den Light Tie Circles paper, orange cardstock, green alphabet rub-ons, brown pen and miscellaneous butterfly stickers.

To recreate this layout, follow these instructions:

1. Set aside your orange cardstock for your background.

2. Cut four strips of Chatterbox Sun Tangerine Blossoms paper measuring 5cm by 25.3cm. Adhere one strip vertically in the bottom left corner of your page and another vertically in the top right corner of your page.

3. Turn your remaining two strips of Chatterbox Sun Tangerine Blossoms paper over so you can no longer see the blossoms design. Adhere one horizontally in the top left corner of your page and the other horizontally in the bottom right corner of your page.

4. Arrange your photos to form a square in the middle of your page. I have used a 6×8 photo for the large photo and cropped two 4×6 photos to create my square.

5. Cut out a large blossom from your Chatterbox Sun Tangerine Blossoms scrapbooking paper and adhere on top of join between all three of your photos.

6. Cut a strip of Chatterbox Den Light Tie Circles paper measuring 1cm by 25.3cm. Turn it over so you can only see the green side (you could use green cardstock for this instead). Adhere across the top left of your page, as shown in the layout above.

7. Cut out a medium size blossom from your Chatterbox Sun Tangerine Blossoms paper and adhere in the top left corner of your page, on top of your green strip.

8. Finish off your page with a title in the bottom right corner. To create my title, I have used green alphabet rub-ons and a brown pen, but you could use any combination of alphabet stamps, stickers, rub-ons or pen work.

9. Finally, add a butterfly sticker or something similar to finish off your title.

And there you have it – a beautiful scrapbooking layout that uses a simple design and elegant scrapbooking papers to showcase your precious photos.

I’d love to hear what you think of this scrapbooking idea. Please leave a comment in the comments box below.

Colour Blocking is an effective and simple technique that can be used on any layout. And it’s even better when combined with stickers. I have used summer scrapbooking stickers on this layout to show you how to combine the two techniques. The mosaic of colour created on this page combined with a fresh geometric design creates a captivating layout when embellished with summer stickers.

This layout was created using five shades of Bazzill cardstock (pink, purple, aqua, green and yellow) and Doodlebug Summer Treats stickers.

Click Here To View Doodlebug Summer Treats Stickers

To recreate this scrapbook page idea, follow these steps:

1. Use the pink Bazzil cardstock as your background.

2. Mat two horizontal photos with yellow Bazzill cardstock, making sure the resulting mats measure 14.5cm by 9.5cm.

3. Now it is time to cut out 24 squares from your Bazzill cardstock. Each square should measure 4.5cm by 4.5cm. You will need 8 aqua squares, 8 purple squares, 6 green squares and 2 yellow squares.

4. Arrange your squares and photo mats on your background, as shown in the layout above. I suggest starting in the top left corner and working your way across and down from there. The spacing between each element should be approximately 0.5cm.

5. Place your ‘Summer’ sticker from Doodlebug Summer Treats stickers in the bottom right corner of your page, as shown above, to give your scrapbooking layout a title.

6. Finally, arrange your Summer Treats stickers around your page so that they overlap different squares and your photo mats. Use the layout above as a guide to how to place them around your page.

What do you think? Do you like this scrapbooking idea using summer scrapbooking stickers? Do you have any questions? Would you have done anything different? We’d love to hear from you! Please leave a comment below.

Colour Blocking is an easy technique that can be used to create bright Easter Scrapbooking ideas. The symmetrical straight-lined design gives your page balance and structure while focusing attention on your photos. In the layout below, I have used Bazzill cardstock to create a fun, vibrant page using this techinque. Usually I love working with patterned papers, but the texture of Bazzill gives my page distinct layers and depth while the bright colours create the mood.

This layout was created using Bazzill cardstock (light blue bling, hot pink, purple and grass green), white cardstock, foam tape and Bo Bunny Easter Egg Hunt stickers.

To recreate this scrapbook page idea, follow these steps:

1. Use light blue bling Bazzill cardstock as your background. Set it aside for now.

2. Mat three photos (preferably two measuring approximately 7cm by 9.5cm and one measuring approximately 12.4cm by 9.5cm) with white cardstock. The frame around each photo should be about 0.3cm wide. Mat again with hot pink Bazzill cardstock. This frame should be about 0.2cm wide.

3. Cut a piece of purple Bazzill cardstock measuring approximately 29.3cm by 4cm. Mat with white cardstock. The frame around it should be about 0.2cm wide. Place your Easter Eggs border sticker in the centre of the strip.

4. Cut a piece of grass green Bazzill cardstock measuring approximately 29.3cm by 2cm. Mat with white cardstock. The frame around it should be about 0.2cm wide. Place your grass border sticker in the centre of the strip.

5. Start placing your pieces on your background (but do not stick them down yet). You may find you need to adjust some of your measurements as you go, so keep an eye on how everything fits together.

6. Cut a piece of grass green Bazzill cardstock measuring approximately 12.3cm by 10cm. Cut seven pieces of purple Bazzill cardstock measuring approximately 0.7cm by 11cm. Glue them vertically at random angles across the green cardstock, as shown in the layout above. Trim away the excess and mat with white cardstock. The frame around it should be about 0.2cm wide. Place your Easter Egg Hunt title sticker in the centre.

7. Cut a piece of purple Bazzill cardstock measuring approximately 6.5cm by 10.1cm. Cut four pieces of hot pink Bazzill cardstock measuring approximately 0.5cm by 7.5cm. Glue them horizontally at random angles across the purple cardstock, as shown in the layout above. Trim away the excess and mat with white cardstock. The frame around it should be about 0.2cm wide. Place your Blue Easter Egg and Chick sticker towards the bottom, as shown in the layout above.

8. Cut a piece of purple Bazzill cardstock measuring approximately 8.2cm by 10.1cm. Cut four pieces of hot pink Bazzill cardstock measuring approximately 0.5cm by 9cm. Glue them horizontally at random angles across the purple cardstock, as shown in the layout above. Trim away the excess and mat with white cardstock. The frame around it should be about 0.2cm wide. Place your Yellow Easter Egg and Chick sticker towards the bottom, as shown in the layout above.

9. You should now have eight different elements for your page. Arrange them on your background as shown in the layout above and glue down. Try to keep the spacing between each piece fairly even (mine are 0.4cm – 0.5cm apart).

10. Finally, stick two butterfly stickers and the dragonfly sticker to white cardstock. Cut them out. Stick them to your layout with foam tape, as shown above.

What do you think? Do you like this Easter scrapbooking idea? Do you have any questions? Would you have done anything different? We’d love to hear from you! Please leave a comment below.
