Quick Scrapbooking Ideas

Part 14

An effective combination of patterns and colours are the key to a successful page. This layout shows how easy and quick it is to create a gorgeous page with a few simple elements.

This layout was created using Autumn Leaves Vintage Antique Harlequin paper, Autumn Leaves Estate Linen Stripes paper, Creative Imaginations Oatmeal Linen paper, Daisy D's Scratch-Khaki paper, Bazzil brown cardstock, dark brown ink, leaf green ink, brown ribbon, round green brad, rust heart brad and Pebbles Inc Thought Paper Charm stickers.

Use your Vintage Antique Harlequin paper as your background. Cut a strip of Estate Linen Stripes paper approximately 12cm tall and adhere across the bottom of your page. These two patterned papers work well together as the dark brown stripes in the Estate Linen Stripes paper is the same brown as in the Vintage Antique Harlequin paper. Manufacturers commonly create their paper lines like this, making it easy for you to mix and match as much as you like.

Cut a thin strip of Bazzil brown cardstock (around 1cm tall) and adhere across your page on top of the join between your two patterned papers.

Next mat your photo on Daisy D's Scratch-Khaki paper and then again on Creative Imaginations Oatmeal Linen paper. Using a dark brown ink, ink around the edges of your Oatmeal Linen mat. When dry, adhere your photo on your page, as shown in the layout above.

Now it is time to embellish your page. Begin by selecting one of the smaller paper charm stickers. I have chosen the one that reads 'Kind' but you could also choose another like 'Joy.' Thread a piece of ribbon through the hole in the top and tie a knot. Adhere the sticker to the bottom left of your photo, as shown above.

The next step is to create your square of embellishments to the right of your photo. Begin by adhering your round 'Dream' sticker in place (you could also use the one the reads 'Faith'). Place a small green brad through the hole in the top.

Cut a heart from your Scratch-Khaki paper and ink the edges with leaf green ink. When dry, adhere to your page to create a diagonal line between it and the 'Dream' sticker you have already positioned. Adhere the 'Laugh' sticker (again, you could substitute for a different word) to the right side of the heart, as shown in the layout. Place a rust heart brad through the hole in the top of the sticker.

Next, take your 'Love' and 'Smile' paper charm stickers and thread a small piece of ribbon through the hole in each. Tie a knot and then adhere the stickers to your page to create the square arrangement.

To finish off your layout, you may like to use alphabet stamps or stickers to place a title in the bottom right-hand corner of the page.
