Vellum Scrapbooking Ideas

Part 4

By Susanne Perry

This month, Susanne is sharing with us this sweet floral layout featuring her daughter, Lily. To create this layout, she has used Handmade Pink specialty paper (similar in texture to mulberry paper), Pink vellum, Pink Cardstock, Dark Green cardstock, Scotch Vellum Tape, Bradley Hand ITC Font and Karen Foster Pink Petals stickers.

Begin by matting your photo on dark green cardstock. Then cut a 9.5cm strip of pink specialty paper and glue down the left-hand side of your pink cardstock background.

Cut out your Karen Foster Pink Petals stickers individually leaving the backing paper attached. Experiment with positioning them on the pink specialty paper. When you are satisfied with your positioning, stick them all down except your border sticker. This will be used to hide the join between the specialty paper and the vellum and must be applied last.

Print your journaling onto your vellum. You may wish to test print onto plain paper to ensure you get the right look and the right alignment.

Place the vellum over the pink cardstock and position your photo underneath so that the photo & journaling are centred. Lightly mark the position of the photo. Remove the vellum and adhere your photo to the background.

Place the vellum back on top of your photo and lightly mark the minimum area of the photo you want exposed. Once again, remove the vellum.

To create the torn effect, cut diagonally from top to bottom of the marked area. Tear and remove the vellum from inside the marked section. Continue tearing and removing vellum slowly & in small sections until the desired amount of the photo is revealed. Shape larger torn sections around a pencil to create a curved look. Attach underside with vellum tape if it is required to hold position. Gently fold or curl back small torn sections trying not to crease vellum.

Apply vellum tape to the pink cardstock and stick the vellum over your photo. This creates a great frame for your photo.

Stick your border sticker over the joint between the vellum and specialty paper. Finally, finish off by sticking rose bud stickers onto the vellum over the bottom right hand corner of your photo.
