Bright, happy colours, a touch of doodling and a splash of sunshine are the perfect ingredients for a refreshing summer scrapbooking layout.

And I have used all of these elements in the layout below. The bright, happy colours are featured in the array of playful Sassafras Lass papers, the doodling in the pink dots drawn around the circle and the sunshine from the joy on the faces in the photo. True, I have also used a sunshine sticker, but this could easily have been replaced with any summery sticker – flip flops, a tropical flower, a beach ball…anything you wish.

Click Here To View Our Full Range Of Summer Stickers

Click Here To View Our Full Range Of Sassafras Lass Papers

Of course, the quote also assists in creating my summer scrapbooking theme. It reads:
Wherever you go – no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.

Materials Used: Turquoise Bazzill cardstock, Sassafras Lass Sew Fine Henrietta Paper, Sassafras Lass In Stitches Bubbly Paper, Sassafras Lass In Stitches Delight Paper, Sassafras Lass In Stitches Twiggy Paper, Doodlebug Pink Stripes paper, blue cardstock, blue ink, pink ink, pink glitter pen, a sun sticker and Bo Bunny Be Yourself Phrases stickers.

To recreate this summer scrapbook page idea, follow these steps:

1. Use the Turquoise Bazzill cardstock for your background.

2. Cut a piece measuring 14cm by 14.5cm from the bottom right corner of the Sassafras Lass Sew Fine Henrietta Paper. Ink the edges with blue ink and adhere to the right edge of your page, approximately 7.5cm from the bottom.

3. Cut two strips of Doodlebug Pink Stripes paper measuring approximately 14cm by 1cm. Ink the edges with pink ink. Adhere the first strip horizontally above the Henrietta paper, leaving a small gap between the two papers and the second strip below it, as shown in the layout above.

4. Cut out a circle from Sassafras Lass In Stitches Bubbly Paper. The diameter should be approximately 23cm. Trim off one edge, as shown in the summer scrapbooking layout above. Ink the edges with blue ink and adhere to the left side of your page.

5. Now it’s time to start doodling! Using a pink glitter pen, draw a border of dots around your circle. If you wish, you can hide a date or small piece of journaling among your dots as well.

NOTE: Doodling does not have to be complicated or difficult to add style and personality to your scrapbooking page. In fact, in this layout, drawing a simple border of dots around a central element was enough to give emphasis to my photo and add a little pizzazz to my page. If you are new to doodling, try something simple like this and before long you will be featuring it on all of your pages with confidence.

6. Cut a piece of Sassafras Lass In Stitches Twiggy Paper measuring approximately 7.5cm by 17cm. Ink the edges with blue ink. Adhere vertically in your circle a little left of centre.

7. Cut two pieces of Sassafras Lass In Stitches Delight Paper measuring approximately 5cm by 16cm. Ink the edges with blue ink. If you like, you can also outline the edges with your pink glitter pen. Adhere at an angle either side of the Twiggy paper from the previous step, as shown in the summer scrapbook page above.

8. Mat your photo with blue cardstock and adhere in the centre of your circle.

9. Place a sun sticker (or any other summer sticker) in the top left corner of your photo.

10. Finally, add a quote (or some journaling) in the bottom right corner of your page. My quote comes from Bo Bunny Be Yourself Phrases stickers.

And voila! A fun, happy summer scrapbooking layout! And best of all, it can be adapted to suit any summery photo you have in your ‘to scrap’ stash! You just new a few supplies to get started.

If you’re like me, you have mountains of birthday photos and are always looking for new birthday scrapbooking ideas. Nothing says it’s a festive occasion like balloons so when I saw these Birthday Boy Balloons stickers from Stickopotamus, I knew they would be perfect for my nephew’s second birthday photos.

Click Here To View Our Complete Range Of Birthday Stickers

Don’t forget to check out how I embellished the balloons too!

This layout was created using Provo Craft Blue Circles paper, Doodlebug Baby Boy Stripe paper, white cardstock, Beary Patch Grapebeary Dots paper, black cardstock, purple ink, purple alphabet stickers, blue thread and Stickopotamus Birthday Boy Balloons stickers.

To recreate this scrapbook page idea, follow these steps:

1. Use the Provo Craft Blue Circles paper as your background.

2. Cut out several ring shapes from Beary Patch Grapebeary Dots paper. It doesn’t really matter what size they are or even how many you have. You can also use solid circles or a combination of the two. You are just trying to create an interesting background. Use the layout above as an example.

3. Ink the edges of each ring or circle from the previous step with purple ink. When dry, glue randomly around your layout, keeping in mind the bottom third of your page will be covered later by photos.

4. Glue four 3×4 vertical photos in a row along the bottom of your scrapbooking layout.

5. Cut a strip of Doodlebug Baby Boy Stripe paper approximately 1cm tall. Glue horizontally across the top of your line of photos.

6. Mat a horizontally 4×6 photo with white cardstock. Mat again with Doodlebug Baby Boy Stripe and again with white cardstock. Glue in the centre of the space remaining above your line of photos.

7. Select the purple alphabet stickers you wish to use for your title and mat each one with black cardstock. Arrange towards the left side of your page, directly above your line of four photos, as shown above and glue in place.

8. Select five balloon stickers from Stickopotamus Birthday Boy Balloons stickers. Place each one on white cardstock and cut out. This enhances the brilliance of the blue, plus gives them dimension so they stand out from your page.

9. Tie a piece of blue thread to each balloon. Make sure each piece of thread is about 12cm in length. You can trim it down later.

10. Stick two balloons towards the top left corner of your photo, as shown above. Stretch the thread down to underneath your photo and secure in place with a blue star sticker. Trim your thread to the desired length.

11. Stick three balloons to the right of your photo, as shown above. Again, stretch the thread down to the desired location and secure in place with a blue star sticker. Trim your thread to the desired length.

12. Finally, place your remaining blue star stickers randomly around your page.

When I first saw these pansy stickers, I knew I had to find a way to use them. They are just too pretty not to use. I love working with flowers, but the truth is, coming up with scrapbooking ideas for pansies did present me with quite a challenge. I have always associated pansies with my grandmother (she always seems to be growing them), but I wanted to do something not so obvious with them. This is what I came up with. What do you think?

Click Here To View Our Full Range Of Flower Stickers

By placing my pansies inside irregular circles, I have been able to mix a bit of the old with the new. It was the perfect contrast for my photos of Futarasan Shrine in Japan. This old world shrine is part of the World Heritage area in Nikko, but still plays a significant role in modern day Japan.

This layout was created using brown Bazzill cardstock, Purple Stripes paper (brand unknown), Scenic Route Charlotte Brown Floral Paper, Karen Foster Red Scratch paper, Creative Imaginations Brown Linen paper, white cardstock, cream cardstock, black cardstock, brown ink, white ink, a brown pen, a black pen, a small flower or asterisk stamp, Basic Grey Flourishes rub-ons and NRN Designs Pansies stickers.

To recreate this scrapbook page idea, follow these steps:

1. Use the brown Bazzill cardstock as your background.

2. Using a small flower or asterisk stamp and white ink, stamp a border all the way around the outside of your brown Bazzill cardstock. Leave to dry.

3. Cut a piece of Purple Stripes paper measuring approximately 27.8cm by 20cm. Ink the edges with brown ink. When dry, scrunch up into a ball and then flatten out. This gives your paper a little extra character. Adhere horizontally to your background about 1.5cm from the left edge and 1.4cm from the bottom edge.

4. Cut a piece of Scenic Route Charlotte Brown Floral Paper measuring approximately 12cm by 28.4cm. Ink the edges with brown ink. When dry, glue vertically to your page about 2cm from the left edge and 1cm from the bottom edge.

5. Cut a piece from the underside of Scenic Route Charlotte Brown Floral Paper measuring approximately 10cm by 18.5cm. Ink the edges with brown ink. When dry, glue vertically to your page about 5.5cm from the left edge and 3cm from the top edge.

6. Cut a piece of Red Scratch paper measuring approximately 18cm by 18cm. Ink the edges with brown ink. When dry, glue to your page about 4cm from the right edge and 4.5cm from the top edge.

7. Using one of your border stickers, cut a piece that is 18cm long. Adhere horizontally across the red scratch paper, approximately 1cm above the bottom edge of that paper.

8. Mat a horizontal 4×6 photo with white cardstock and position on the red scratch paper. It should be about 1.2cm from the top edge of the red paper and 1.2cm from the right edge of the red paper.

9. Select a flourish rub-on and place in around the top left corner of your 4×6 photo, as shown in the layout above.

10. Mat a horizontal 3×4 photo with whit cardstock. Glue at an angle over the bottom right corner of your larger photo, as shown in the layout above.

11. Cut out a piece of cream cardstock measuring approximately 9.5cm by 2.5cm. Using a black pen, add your journaling on this piece. Ink the edges with brown ink and when dry, glue in the space between your large photo and the border sticker.

12. Cut out your title from black cardstock and glue across the bottom of the page.

13. Select a collection of pansy stickers you wish to use on your page. The larger ones may have stems attached – cut them off. Cut a circle from Creative Imaginations Brown Linen paper for each of them. Slowly tear around the edge of the circle to give a white edge. Then, ink the brown ink. Also, draw an imperfect circle inside the circle, close to the outer edge. You may also like to smudge the whole area with brown ink for added effect. Stick a pansy sticker inside each circle and then glue your circles around your page, as shown in the layout above.

14. Finally, place a butterfly sticker towards the top right corner of your page. If you wish, you may also like to add a white dotted line below it to indicate its flight path.

Scrapbooking ideas with circles are playful and a lot of fun. I love the fluidity you can create with circles without disrupting the balance (you all know I LOVE balance!). In this page I have used circles and stickers to create an ‘Under The Sea’ feel to my page. My photo was taken at Tokyo Disney Sea, but this idea is easily adaptable to any beach or even bath time photos. What do you think?

Also, just as an aside, I really do adore the Little Mermaid Glitter stickers I have used. Glitter is wonderful but I am sometimes frustrated by the mess it makes when specks of it fall off the sticker. That doesn’t happen with these Sandylion stickers as the glitter is sealed within the sticker so you get all the sparkle without the mess.

This layout was created using Karen Foster Light Green Droplets paper, Paper Adventures Starfish paper, Pebbles Inc Winter Circle paper, orange Bazzill cardstock, white cardstock, purple alphabet stickers, Doodlebug Designs Pastel Party Alphabet stickers, Doodlebug Designs Bright Party Alphabet stickers and Sandylion Little Mermaid Glitter stickers.

To recreate this scrapbook page idea, follow these steps:

1. Use Karen Foster Light Green Droplets paper as your background.

2. Cut a piece of Paper Adventures Starfish paper measuring approximately 23cm by 27cm. Glue vertically to your layout centred and along the bottom.

3. Cut out a collection of blue circles from Pebbles Inc Winter Circle paper. If you do not have this paper, you can make your own with two shades of blue cardstock. Glue the largest circle in the top right corner of your page, as shown in the layout above.

4. Place one of the smaller Little Mermaid stickers near the edge of the circle, as shown in the layout above.

5. Mat a 5×7 photo with orange Bazzill cardstock. Glue to your layout so that it is centred horizontally and approximately 6cm from the top edge of the page.

6. Glue your remaining circles around the page to surround your photo, as shown in the layout above.

7. Place a Little Mermaid sticker so it overlaps the top left corner of your photo, and another so it overlaps the bottom right corner of your photo. Also, place two shells in the top right corner of the photo.

8. Place one of the smaller Little Mermaid stickers in the bottom left corner, as shown above.

9. Decide on your title. Use Doodlebug Designs Party alphabet stickers to select a sticker for the first letter of each word. (I have used Doodlebug Designs Pastel Party Alphabet stickers for the ‘m’ and Doodlebug Designs Bright Party Alphabet stickers for the ‘L’). Use purple alphabet stickers (or letters cut from purple cardstock) for the rest of the letters. Mat these with white cardstock so they stand out from your background. Arrange your title under your photo, as shown in the layout above. The first letter of the second word should cover some of your mermaid sticker in the bottom left corner.

10. Finally, place some of the smaller stickers around your page for extra decoration.

What do you think? Do you like this scrapbooking idea? Do you have any questions? Would you have done anything different? We’d love to hear from you! Please leave a comment below.
