Scrapbooking Ideas with Circles

By Jennifer Gormly

Circles are a great way to add interest to your layouts. This double-page layout shows how to use large circles to draw all the elements of a page together and provide a contrast for all the straight lines. Try incorporating large circles into the background of your pages and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the results.

This layout  was created using papers from the Chatterbox Poolhouse Paper Pack (Light Poolhouse Vines paper, Poolhouse Tile Stripe paper, Poolhouse Stripe paper, Poolhouse Dots paper and two sheets of Poolhouse Tangerine cardstock), alphabet rub-ons and a green metallic pen.

Use your two sheets of Poolhouse Tangerine cardstock for the background. Start with the left-hand page. Cut a large circle from Poolhouse Dots paper. You don't need a full circle as it will be placed in the bottom left corner of your page. If your circle cutter doesn't cut circles large enough, try tracing the outline of a plate and cutting with scissors. Adhere in the bottom left corner of the page.

Mat your main photo first with the underside of Poolhouse Dots paper and then with the underside of Poolhouse Tile Stripe paper. Adhere towards the top left corner of your page, as shown in the layout above. Adhere your second photo towards the bottom right corner of the page, as shown in the layout above.

Cut a rectangle from the underside of Poolhouse Dots paper and add your journaling. Adhere under your main photo, as shown in the layout above. Cut two flowers from Light Poolhouse Vines paper and outline the edges with a pen (I have used a green metallic pen). Adhere to the bottom left corner of your journaling box.

Now move on to the right side of your page. Cut a large circle from Light Poolhouse Vines paper. Again, it does not have to be a complete circle. Adhere towards the top of the right side of your page, as shown in the layout above.

Cut a strip of Poolhouse Stripe paper approximately 10cm tall. Adhere along the bottom of the page. Cut a strip of the underside of Poolhouse Dots paper approximately 8cm tall and centre on your Poolhouse Stripe paper. Arrange three photos side by side on the orange strip, as shown in the layout above.

Mat your main photo for the right page first with the underside of Light Poolhouse Vines and then with the underside of Poolhouse Tile Stripe paper. Adhere towards the top right corner of your page, as shown in the layout above. Adhere your second smaller photo to the left of it, as shown in the layout above.

Cut three flowers from Light Poolhouse Vines paper and outline the edges with a pen (I have used a green metallic pen). Adhere to the top left corner of your main photo.

Finally, cut the main word of your title in large letters from Light Poolhouse Vines paper and outline the edges with a pen (I have used a green metallic pen). Arrange across the top of your layout so it spans both pages. Finish off your title with small alphabet rub-ons positioned above your large letters.
