| Collages and Shabby Chic seems to be the
latest thing in scrapbooking, so this week I decided to look at
combining these sophisticated styles with stickers and was
pleasantly surprised at how simple it is.  | |

| This collage was created with a
selection of purple patterned papers, white cardstock
and Purple Hydrangeas stickers. The key to
attempting a collage is to choose your theme. I wanted a
simple floral theme and chose the stickers to match. I
then matched the papers and layout to suit them. By
deciding on the stickers first I was able to allow them
to guide my design, making the task much easier.  | | |

| When you have chosen your stickers, I highly
recommend cutting them out so you can lay them on your page and
move them around before removing the backing paper. You then
need to select the other elements you wish to include on your
page. I used torn pieces of a leaf paper around the edges of the
page. I also matted the photo with white cardstock and then
framed it with a soft patterned paper with torn edges.

| The sticker sheet I chose included two border
stickers. I didn't really feel a traditional border down the
side or along the bottom was quite appropriate. Instead, I
placed them at angles across the page and across the photo. To
balance them, I also used two strips of purple swirl paper
angled across the page, but under the photo mat. I then added
all the stickers as a finishing touch.

| This was a relatively quick layout to complete,
but often layouts such as these bring out our anxiety and fear
at trying something new. Even the best of scrappers can loose
confidence when tackling a layout like this. I think the best
way to combat this is to just get in and have a go. Choose all
your elements first. Then play! Try several different ways of
placing them around the page before deciding on your final
arrangement and BEFORE  attaching anything. As you build up
your confidence with this style, you will find yourself
returning to it again and again!  | |
